Among the most notable improvements was the lighter midsole, similar to what Hoka used in the EVO Speedgoat. The new midsole also made the shoe lighter. A men’s size 10 slimmed down from 11.25 ounces to 10.25 ounces in the new version. (Women’s models have been reduced by a similar percentage.)

Hoka Torrent vs Speedgoat – Trail Runner Review. Hoka Torrents are 1.5oz lighter than the Speedgoats. The Torrents are 9.3oz and the Speedgoats are 10.8oz. Speedgoats have 1mm less drop than the Torrent. Speedgoat have a 4mm drop compared to 5mm on the Torrent. The Torrents are considered more “responsive” than the Speedgoats.
